I probably should have posted this before all his birthday stuff but I just wanted to show everyone his invitation that I made. I’m getting pretty good at this photoshop stuff so I really wanted to make it myself. I’m pretty pleased with out it turned out. The colors are also the colors I used for the decorations. I just wanted something really simple and just loved this picture the 1st time I saw it! I will probably continue to make the kids birthday invites from now on!

A celebration to remember…
I have planned and imagined about how Preston’s 1st birthday party would be for months!!! From the cake and food down to his birthday shirt, I had it all planned out! But nothing went as planned! Nothing!!!
It all started friday afternoon when I came home and Preston was running a fever! I gave him some motrin and it seemed to go away….that is until 1 am when I woke up to him burning up with a temp of 103! Needless to say I was worried! Saturday I prayed it was just because he had 3 shots from his yearly checkup the thursday before and that it would go away before his party! I left him with Timmy while I went to pick up the cake which I absolutely loved! Atleast that turned out just as planned! Special thanks to Jessica for going above and beyond to make such an amazing cake! It was even more beautiful in person! :) I actually had it designed after a diaper cake that a friend had made for me out of boxes for one of my baby showers. I’ll have to post that later to show you guys how awesome they both look. And I can’t forget the birthday banner that my Bestie Candace did for me as well!!! Loved it!
Anyways…back to the party…so I arrived at my Dad’s house at 11:30 and picked up Preston and he was on FIRE! I ran and grabbed the thermometer and checked his temp again watching anxiously as it went past 100,101 and 102 and finally stopped on 103.8!!! I quickly called up the Dr’s office who then told me to bring him in asap…15 mins to be exact!! I rushed him there with my two sisters so that Timmy could stay with his family so they wouldn’t feel uncomfortable. They checked his ears, throat, listened to his lungs and then tested him for the Flu which all came back negative! The Dr said it could have been the shots or just a viral infection. We left and got back to the party around 1:00, an hour after it started. Everyone was kind enough to wait for us before eating. As we got back to the party, I quickly found out that my little Brother had left around the same time we did to go to the store and was in a car accident on the way back but thankfully ok so my Dad had left to take care of him! The party finally started!!! My poor baby was not himself that day. He wanted to be held all day which was fine by me but I hated seeing him so sick. His fever started to go down and he enjoyed himself a little bit but nothing like I had hoped. There was no cake digging or face smashing but that’s ok. We still had a great time!!!
Probably one of the only pictures of him sort of happy!
And he really seemed to enjoy opening presents!
Sunday he was still running a fever but nothing as bad as Saturday and today his fever finally went away! Thank goodness he is feeling better! Through all the chaos, it still turned out to be a great party with great company and amazing food! And my sister even surprised me by flying in from Arizona which completely made my day!!! Just goes to show that nothing ever turns out as expected!!!
Preston’s Birthday week
We celebrated Preston’s birthday by going to the fair. He didn’t really get to enjoy it as much as the kids but it was really the only day that we were going to be able to go. He did get his own Zoo trip though! :)
Between the kiddie rides and then Ariel and Nicholas deciding they were lame and it was time to move on up to the big rides, it was about time to go.They did ride two which caused Nicholas to repeat atleast 50 times on the way home how much he just “can’t wait” until the fair next year! No lie!
Here they are exiting the “Gravitron!” I used to love this when I was a kid and now I know what it would do to me!!!! I was nauseated just thinking about it!
And look at them on the “Rainbow!” One of my favorites!!! Nicholas was hilarious throughout this entire ride!!! Ariel on the other hand was holding on for dear life! :)
All the teenagers come out at night so this was the perfect time to come! No lines=Happy Jamie!
After the fair, we went home and celebrated Preston’s birthday with cupcakes since he was having his big cake on saturday. He doesn’t like getting the icing all over him!
I hoped and prayed that this would all change by saturday but it didn’t! :(
To be continued….

Our 1st meeting….
You took my breath away! You were beautiful from the beginning…
My sweet baby boy, you are now ONE! As I sit here trying to find the words to express my love for you, I wonder exactly where did your 1st year go? From the day you were born, I have felt so many different emotions…from feelings of fear, stupidity, inadequacy, anxiousness and even paranoia, the one thing that has remained constant is this overwhelming love I have for you! It consumes every breath of me!
You are one….Feisty, strong-willed, determined, funny, very independent, smart, daring, loving, beautiful, energetic, fearless, stubborn, playful, curious, food loving, talkative, Beyonce loving, bath time splashin, patty cake playing little boy!
My how you have grown…..

Lions & Tigers & Bears…
We took Preston to the Zoo for his 1st time this weekend to begin his birthday celebration! Since Ariel and Nicholas were with their Mom this weekend, we figured it was the best time to give him some one on one time and show him all the animals!
He barely sat in his stroller! He thinks he’s a big boy & tried to walk the entire time!
We loved getting pictures of him by all the animal statues! He loved it too! I think he thought they were real animals! :)
Did I mention that it was really cold outside?! Seemed like the perfect time to bust out his cute little winter hat! I can’t let P’s ears freeze! It doesn’t help that he is just precious in it as well!!!
My favorite part was the Giraffe’s! I was so excited when we were able to feed them! I think they are so beautiful and I had never been that close to one! I think I went into child mode for a few minutes! :)
Anything that he was able to get down and really get to look at he did! It was hard trying to keep him from trying to climb over the fence! He was determined to atleast try to get up close and personal!!!!
And he LOVED the Aquarium!!!
When I was a kid, I used to crawl up in this little hole and sit and wait for the water to come splashing down! How could I not let him experience something that I used to love!!! He pitched a fit when I took him down! I guess that means he loved it too!
I had such a wonderful time getting to spend the day with just my little man and take him somewhere that I loved when I was a child! I can’t wait until he is bigger and enjoys it even more!

Bestie’s
My good friend Christi came over tonight with her little boy Owen who is 6 months older than Preston and we had a good time watching the two of them “try” and play! She and I have been walking together during the week and so other than the infamous holding hands picture, the boys haven’t had a chance to really play with each other! Between the two of them pulling and tugging on each other (mainly Preston pulling on Owen,) it’s safe to say we need to get them together more often to teach Preston how to play nicely! We were able to get some cute pictures of them though!
They really weren’t fighting in these pics, they just couldn’t stay still long enough to get a “arm around the shoulder we’re buds pic!!!” Oh well!!!
I love that picture of Christi and Owen!!! Too cute!!!
And seriously how cute is this little guy!!!
Thanks for stopping by Christi! We had fun!!!

Party like a Rock Star?
So yesterday we had Ariel’s Hannah Montana themed birthday party! We had it at a park in lexington picked by Ariel! It was a small crowd and very laid back. We let the kids play for awhile before we had pizza and cake! Timmy’s parents also made fried rice and eggrolls but there wasn’t enough people for all that food so guess who has tons of left overs at their house??? :) And The weather was sooo humid that I wonder why I even bothered straightening my hair b/c by the time it was all over with, I looked like I had just stepped out the shower! Just nasty! Other than that though, we had a great time!
Ariel’s Aunt My from florida came up and brought her cousins Gabri, Joseph and Ezra! Aunt My also made her birthday cake! And it was so delicious! Thanks Aunt My!!! :)
And Ariel racked up on TONS of winter clothes! She was in desperate need so it seems her birthday is the perfect time of year!!! :)
And what were the baby boys doing while she was busy opening presents?
Who would have thought a bucket of ice could be so entertaining? All I know is that I thought several times to myself how nice it would be to dump it on me b/c of how humid it was! Definately not a great day for an outside party but the kids couldn’t complain! All in all, we had a great time with family and watching Ariel have such a fun time!
